Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is a fast and reliable UT inspection solution for flaw detection and characterisation, across multiple presentations simultaneously. Phased array technology uses transducers with multiple elements fired in succession to produce beams that can be steered, swept and focused electronically. Inspections across multiple angles are performed simultaneously, creating significant cost savings and providing precise recordable results for further analysis and for future monitoring inspections.
Phased array is capable of performing multiple applications including NDT, welding inspection,
corrosion mapping, and inspections on composites and components of complex geometry. Through the use of precise scan-planning and beam manipulating, the probability of the detection of flaws is greatly increased.
The Phased Array process can be easily used for on-stream inspections, causing minimal to zero disruption in process plant. It can be performed at very short notice on areas of immediate concern and it can utilised in certain circumstances as an alternative to radiography. Removing the need for HSE notifications and work exclusion zones.
